Suspicious Truck Fire Under Investigation In Maryland

Members of the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal are investigating an arson incident that was reported after a fire broke out inside a truck parked in Allegany County.

Officials announced on Monday, July 25 that the preliminary cause of a fire in the 11200 block of Mount Savage Road in Cumberland has been deemed as arson after a blaze broke out inside the passenger compartment of a 1998 Ford Expedition.

Crews from the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Company took less than two minutes to extinguish the fire, which was reported by a passerby who saw smoke coming from the vehicle.

The fire - which was reported at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 - caused an estimated $2,000 in damage, officials noted.

No injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation.
